Breaking News

June 2009, Silver PT was advertised in Auto Trader, £999...it was cheap, it had a few faults but I wanted something to take to bits, to learn from.

Phoned seller, I wasn’t the first call he’d had, it was none stop, I had to virtually beg him to hang on to it, even though I said it was sold and would transfer the money there and then without viewing has I wanted it for spares only.

Got someone to take me straight to Hall Green area of Birmingham, although very nervous it might be a wasted trip and sold before I got there.

It was taxed, MOT for almost 12 months and drove home, I used it for the weekend before I parked in my garage and slowly started to dismantle her.

Although I didn’t buy her to make a profit, I have sold all parts that I didn’t need and got my money back...and bought a takeaway with profit.

The real profit is the experience, the knowledge I’ve picked up and the shelves of spares I have...

I kept the engine, gearbox, ecu, ignition system, tyres, brake system, pipes, back plates etc, exhaust (new), door fittings, mirrors and glass and lots of other bits and pieces...I think this little lot alone would cost £999 from a breakers.

So far I’ve used the engine, gearbox, ecu and ignition system in Street Cruiser 4 project...exhaust back box onto J22 and a door mirror on T24...it was nice just to be able to pick of the shelf.

Virtually 12 months later May ‘10 sold the body through eBay for 99p...still got parts mainly internal panels for sale from her.

Silver PT No 2 For Breaking

April 2011, this Silver PT was on eBay, been on a couple of times, I kept looking, did my sums talked to the Bank Manager (Wife) and bought it...£750.

Taxed, MOT (6 months) but had had a hard life virtually every panel was bashed or scratched, drove it home from Bredbury, Stockport.

Again I bought to dismantle, but also had a little project in mind ongoing from Street Cruiser 4 project.

I’ve kept the engine, gearbox, ecu and ignition system, exhaust and other bits and bobs...and also got all my money back and a bit more.

Added bonus on this was it had the full Mopar sound package, subwoofer in boot, cd changer under seat these are now in T24.

She is also now stripped down to bones...will be gone by end of November 2011...either complete or cut up.

Once engine was removed, we (Me & Luke) put the old faulty engine from Street Cruiser No 4 back in, has it had issues but the ecu, ignition system had been messed with so we didn’t know what the problem could be.

But now we had a fully working PT, well did have, so we knew the electronics, ignition etc were OK...so we put in the engine...it started but was still running rough...so we removed again, check timing belt and markings, appeared OK bottom pulley marking match up, top two markings came together...it wasn’t until put a ruler on top cogs that it was found the markings met but slightly high...level these put everything back together and away she went...so now this engine is also on the shelf, well floor for future use.
